GOP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE PAT BUCHANAN SUPPORTS MEDICAL MARIJUANA IF IT IS "THE ONLY WAY TO

ALLEVIATE CERTAIN PAINFUL SYMPTOMS"
GOP presidential candidate Pat Buchanan met with editors of the Charlotte Observer on July 28, 1995. They

asked him the following question submitted by Rick Doblin of Charlotte, NC:
                Q. "Would you support the medical use of marijuana?" 

                A. "If a doctor indicated to his patient that this was the only way to alleviate

certain painful symptoms...I would defer to the doctor's judgement."
