California Medical Marijuana Initiative Conference This Weekend

Poll Shows Solid Support for Medical Marijuana as Californians for Compassionate Use Meets in Santa Cruz Mar. 18-9 to Organize Initiative

Californians for Compassionate Use will be holding a statewide organizational conference in Santa Cruz this weekend for an initiative to legalize medical use of marijuana.

At the meeting, C.C.U. will release the results of a new poll by David Binder Associates showing strong statewide support for medical marijuana.

Sponsors believe that the poll results will bolster support for their campaign to gather the 425,000 signatures needed to put an initiative on the November 1996 ballot.

The conference is being held in the Louden Nelson Center at Laurel and Cedar St. from 10 AM to 10 PM on Saturday, Mar. 18 and 10 AM to 3 PM on Sunday, Mar. 19th. The Saturday session will feature public presentation of the poll results, presentations by political consultant Ken Masterton, initiative leader Dennis Peron and medical marijuana patients, and open discussion. Sunday morning will be devoted to organizational meetings, winding up with a barbecue in the park in the afternoon.
