1) As many of you are no doubt aware, the Dateline report on the DARE program did not air Sunday. We can only guess as to why, but given the many months over which the airing has been repeatedly delayed, we strongly suspect that DARE has been exerting pressure on NBC to either drop the report or to delay it or tone it down. So last weekend's postponement may be a sign that NBC is caving into the pressure. Whether or not you have already written to Dateline, you might wish to send them a note expressing your disappointment that the program was canceled and urging them to stick to their original plans of discussing DARE's ineffectiveness.

2) Our last bulletin stated that MSNBC (the cable station) will have a program with Tom Brokaw on `The War on Drugs,' featuring Dan Baum, author of `Smoke & Mirrors: The War on Drugs and the Politics of Failure,' and James Burke, chairman of the Partnership for a Drug Free America. Our latest information is that the program will air tonight (Tuesday 9/3) at 8:00pm and 11:00pm EST.

You can read a description of tonight's show and submit questions for the guests on the web at http://www.msnbc.com/Onair/msnbc/InterNight/talkback.asp. you can find out whether your local cable operator carries MSNBC, visit http://www.msnbc.com/global/CableOperator.asp.
